What the OSRS Skill Calculator calculates
The OSRS Skill Calculator is a universal training planner for every current Old School RuneScape skill. It accepts either the XP implied by a level or an exact total from the skills interface, then connects the remaining XP to a searchable local training method.
Method rows carry their own requirement, unit, Wiki link, and review date. The XP-per-action and actions-per-hour fields remain editable because banking, failures, boosts, route choices, and tick-perfect play can change real throughput.
Use the Skill Calculator
- 1
Choose a skill and method whose requirement your account meets.
- 2
Enter current total XP or update the level field to load its floor.
- 3
Set the target level and replace throughput with a realistic session average.
A result you can audit
Each section documents the calculation and the limits that apply to this specific gameplay problem.
How This OSRS Skill Calculator Works01+
The engine calculates target XP with floor(¼ × Σ floor(level + 300 × 2^(level÷7))). Remaining XP is target minus current. Actions are ceiling(remaining XP ÷ XP per action), so a partial last action still counts.
When actions per hour is greater than zero, time equals actions divided by that rate. No travel, banking, failure, resource, or gold assumption is hidden inside the exact XP calculation.
Worked Example for the OSRS Skill Calculator02+
Level 98 begins at 11,805,606 XP and level 99 at 13,034,431 XP, leaving 1,228,825 XP. A method worth 100 XP per action therefore needs 12,289 successful actions before any throughput estimate is applied.
How to Use the OSRS Skill Calculator Result03+
Use action count to budget supplies, then use hours as a schedule range rather than a stopwatch promise. For a dedicated activity, open its skill page to get a narrower reference table and interpretation.
OSRS Skill Calculator Accuracy and Limitations04+
Boosted requirements, minigame reward rolls, variable XP, multi-skill actions, fail rates, and banking are only represented if their effect is included in the values you enter. Virtual levels above 99 are not the primary planning target.

OSRS calculator FAQs
Clear answers about calculations, data, independence, privacy and practical use.
Does the OSRS Skill Calculator support exact current XP?
Yes. The total-XP field overrides the simple level floor and preserves progress already earned within the current level.
Why can OSRS actions per hour differ from the result?
Banking, movement, failures, attention, equipment, tick methods, and competition change throughput; replace the default with a measured rate.
How does the OSRS skill planner round required actions?
It rounds upward because any remaining fraction still requires one additional successful action.
Can the universal OSRS tool plan a level 99 target?
Yes. It uses the exact 13,034,431 XP threshold and the method you choose.
