Compare two OSRS gear setups
Setup A
Setup B
| Bonus | Setup A | Setup B | Difference A−B |
|---|---|---|---|
| Slash attack | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| Ranged attack | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| Magic attack | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| Melee strength | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| Ranged strength | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| Magic damage % | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| Prayer | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| Approximate GE cost | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Equipment bonuses come from reviewed OSRS Wiki item pages. Cost uses the same dated local Wiki price snapshot as High Alchemy and may be zero for untradeable or unmatched items. Set effects and charged-item state are not inferred.
What the OSRS Gear Calculator calculates
The OSRS Gear Calculator assembles head, cape, neck, ammo, weapon, body, shield, legs, gloves, boots, and ring slots. Setup A and Setup B are totaled independently so offensive, defensive, damage, and prayer differences remain visible.
Equipment bonus records are local and linked to their item pages. Approximate Grand Exchange cost is matched by item name against the dated price snapshot; untradeable or unmatched pieces add zero rather than a fabricated price.
Use the Gear Calculator
- 1
Choose one item or Empty for every slot in Setup A.
- 2
Build the alternative in Setup B or use Swap to reverse the comparison.
- 3
Read bonus differences, then transfer the relevant attack and strength totals to DPS.
A result you can audit
Each section documents the calculation and the limits that apply to this specific gameplay problem.
How This OSRS Gear Calculator Works01+
Every displayed total is the arithmetic sum of the selected records for that named bonus. No item weighting or secret score converts incomparable bonuses into one winner.
Price is a convenience sum from cached high-price observations. It has no effect on combat totals and is not used when the item name has no snapshot match.
Worked Example for the OSRS Gear Calculator02+
Replacing Dragon defender with Avernic defender adds five stab, slash, and crush attack, five corresponding melee defences, and two melee Strength in the local records. Other ten slots remain constant, isolating that upgrade.
How to Use the OSRS Gear Calculator Result03+
Use the table to identify the stat that changed, not simply the more expensive setup. Offensive style, target defence, attack speed, and set effects determine whether a visible bonus becomes actual DPS.
OSRS Gear Calculator Accuracy and Limitations04+
The curated first-release roster is not every OSRS item. Charged variants, degradation, ornament kits, set bonuses, passive effects, ammunition consumption, and equipment requirements need in-game or Wiki confirmation.
OSRS equipment slots compared
Both setups use the same explicit slot structure.
| Group | Examples | Totals affected |
|---|---|---|
| Offence | Weapon, neck, gloves | Attack and strength |
| Defence | Body, legs, shield | Five defence styles |
| Utility | Cape, ring, ammo | Prayer or style bonuses |
| Cost | Tradeable snapshot matches | Approximate coins |

OSRS calculator FAQs
Clear answers about calculations, data, independence, privacy and practical use.
Does the OSRS Gear Calculator rank one setup as best?
No. It exposes individual bonuses because the best setup depends on attack style, enemy, speed, effects, and budget.
Why can an OSRS gear item show zero GE cost?
It may be untradeable or fail to match the dated local price snapshot; the tool does not invent a market price.
Are OSRS set effects included in bonus totals?
Only the listed numeric equipment fields are summed. Conditional passives require separate combat modeling.
How should OSRS gear totals be used with DPS?
Transfer the attack bonus for the selected style plus the matching strength or magic-damage value into the DPS inputs.
