OSRS Combat Level Calculator
Calculate combat level, offensive style contribution and the next useful stat increase.
Calculate an OSRS combat level
Melee currently supplies the largest offensive contribution
Combat formula +
Base = 0.25 × (Defence + Hitpoints + floor(Prayer ÷ 2)).
Final combat = floor(Base + max(0.325 × (Attack + Strength), 0.325 × floor(1.5 × Ranged), 0.325 × floor(1.5 × Magic))).
What the OSRS Combat Level Calculator calculates
The OSRS Combat Level Calculator reproduces the account-level formula from seven combat skills. It shows the base portion, all three offensive contributions, the style currently controlling the result, and the smallest tested stat increase likely to produce another combat level.
Ranged and Magic use floor(1.5 × level), while Melee uses Attack plus Strength. Only the largest offensive branch is added; training a non-determining style may leave combat level unchanged.
Use the Combat Level Calculator
- 1
Enter unboosted base levels for all seven combat skills.
- 2
Read the determining offensive branch beside Combat Level.
- 3
Use the next-increase suggestion as a formula check, not a complete account build.

How This OSRS Combat Level Calculator Works01+
Base combat is 0.25 × (Defence + Hitpoints + floor(Prayer÷2)). Melee is 0.325 × (Attack + Strength). Ranged and Magic are each 0.325 × floor(1.5 times their level).
The displayed combat level is floor(base + maximum offensive contribution). The suggestion increments one base stat at a time until that floor increases, then reports the shortest candidate.
Worked Example for the OSRS Combat Level Calculator02+
An account with Attack 1, Strength 1, Defence 1, Hitpoints 10, Ranged 1, Magic 1, and Prayer 1 evaluates to combat level 3. A fully maxed standard combat account evaluates to 126; both endpoints are unit-tested.
How to Use the OSRS Combat Level Calculator Result03+
Use the branch values to avoid training an unrelated style when maintaining a bracket matters. The shortest numerical increase may still be a poor strategic choice for quests, PvP damage, or account restrictions.
OSRS Combat Level Calculator Accuracy and Limitations04+
Temporary boosts, equipment, prayers currently activated, Summoning from RuneScape 3, and mode-specific exceptions do not alter this base OSRS combat formula. The next-stat hint tests levels only through 99.
OSRS combat components
The formula adds base to only one offensive branch.
| Component | Skills | Coefficient |
|---|---|---|
| Base | Defence, Hitpoints, half Prayer | 0.25 |
| Melee | Attack + Strength | 0.325 |
| Ranged | floor(1.5 × Ranged) | 0.325 |
| Magic | floor(1.5 × Magic) | 0.325 |

OSRS calculator FAQs
Clear answers about calculations, data, independence, privacy and practical use.
Which OSRS skills always affect base combat?
Defence, Hitpoints, and half of Prayer form the base portion before an offensive style is added.
Can OSRS Ranged increase combat when Melee is higher?
Only when its calculated contribution becomes the largest offensive branch; otherwise Melee continues to determine the added portion.
Why are odd OSRS Prayer levels sometimes unchanged?
The formula floors Prayer divided by two, so one additional Prayer level may not increase the base term.
What is the maximum standard OSRS combat level?
An account with all seven relevant base skills at 99 evaluates to combat level 126.
